It is in the nature of things that the secret of a good jam is no secret. Darbo All Natural Preserves are produced according to an old family recipe. Then as now, only the best fruits with no added preservatives are gently warmed and stirred. In that way the natural fruit aroma is retained. The fruit is selected rigorously and then checked to ensure that only the highest quality enters the production process. Then the fruit is carefully heated, the sugar crystals added in and the mixture blended. Lemon juice is added, and at this point the jam is stirred, very gently, in big agitation vats. As soon as it is perfectly set, drawing off can begin. The preserve, still warm, is poured into sterilized jars and sealed in a steam vacuum chamber. Sterilization follows quickly, then the jars are immediately cooled, labeled and packed ready for delivery. Their own laboratory takes samples at all stages for quality analysis. Darbo natural preserves are free of any chemical preservatives, colorants or flavors and made exclusively from fresh or deep frozen fruit and pure, refined sugar crystals. Carefully heated and stirred, the preserve fully preserves its valuable vitamins and natural flavor. The extraordinarily high fruit content of Darbo preserve ranges from 45% to 70%. Darbo, whose premises are located at the heart of Austria s Alpine region, relies on more than 100 years of experience and know-how of fruit and honey processing. It was 1879, when Rudolf Darbo laid the foundations for his fruit steamery in Gorizia (now in Italy by the Slovenian border), he created what is now one of the most successful companies in Austria s history. Some 50 years later, his son, Adolf Darbo, relocated the company in the Tyrolean village of Stans, concentrating his efforts producing quality syrups and bottling honey.
